Are you ready for Spring Cleaning?

You have no idea how happy I am to see the month of April!!!
I am so excited to see butterflies, birds, and blooms returning to my yard in place of the bleak, brown that has dominated all winter.

April is also when I begin to do my Spring Checklist for my home.  Did you know that there are tasks that you should do each year to ensure that your home remains in good shape?  We have created an easy to refrence sheet that lists all of these tasks by season and I encourage you to download it today from our website.  During the month of April this sheet will be only 50 cents... so fly on over today by clicking on this link

Regular maintenance on your home will keep your house in the best shape and help save you time and money down the road.

Happy Earth Day

If you are like most of us, today has got you thinking "Green". Today is Earth Day and it is a day to help each of us be more aware of our carbon footprint and the effect that our living has on the environment.

As a professional Organizer I encourage people daily to live more "Greenly" by reducing the amount of clutter that they are trying to maintain. Many Americans have storage sheds and storage units packed full of things that we can't seem to live without. Imagine the amount of steel, concrete and pollution that it required to build a building just to house all of our overflowing clutter.

For the most part we normally don't remember what is in our storage shed so when we go to visit it is like a treasure hunt remembering all the stuff we are storing but still not having any practical use for them. Imagine the amount of money you could be saving each month if you were not paying to store clutter that you rarely use.... you could use that money to purchase energy efficient light bulbs, plant a tree, or save toward new energy star appliances.

Plus imagine the amount of gas you will save when you are no longer driving across town to visit your stuff that you have no use for...

Encouraging people to finally break free of the clutter that consumes them is one of the first steps to a greener lifestyle; because once you realize what you can live happily without you are able to start to see other changes that you can make in your life as well.

I encourage you to spend a little while on this Earth Day 2009 and think about how finally reducing your clutter can improve both your lifestyle and your impact on the planet.

Organize Your Spring Cleaning Projects

Spring is finally here to stay in my area of the country, in southwest Missouri the weather can change quickly and we have been teased with warm temperatures followed by snow for almost a month now.

However, the flowers are in bloom, trees are turning green again... and I am working on my spring project list. Spring is the perfect time to get some home improvement projects started and learning to do them in a more organized way will help you save time and frustration and allow you to enjoy more spring days with friends and family.

Get yourself a spiral bound notebook to help you keep all of your spring projects in the same place. Dedicate a page to each project and detail the time needed to complete, the materials needed, and other important details.

When you find that you have extra time on your hands, you can quickly flip through your project book and pick a project that fits the time that you have. A quick glance at your project page will tell you what tools and materials to gather so you can complete your project. This will keep you from having to stop and start your project over and over to run and get tools... which will make the project take much longer than needed.

Once the project is completed you can tear the page out of the book... enjoy seeing your house improve and your notebook shrink as your spring projects get done in this organized fashion.

Take Advantage of Warmer Weather...

I don't know about you but where we live the weather is supposed to tease us with our first true taste of spring this weekend. Our temperatures are predicted to soar into the middle sixties and even make a valiant attempt at the 70's mark by Sunday.

I love spring! I have never been a very big fan of the cold months of winter and always secretly count down the dark days until they give way to weekends like this one.

As soon as I heard the forecasters expectations for our weekend weather, I began making plans for my family and I to spend as much time as possible outdoors soaking it all in. I have planned a picnic, a trip to the park, some kite flying, and even a possible nature hike as our big spring kickoff.

However, I have also set aside some time for a few outdoor organizational projects that I have been wanting to do, but couldn't bring myself to because of the cold winds. I am going to do some work in our garage first and foremost. The kids love to help sweeping out the garage and finding all of their outdoor toys that had been packed away in the fall.

The other thing that I am planning to spend a little bit of time on is reorganizing our vehicles. During the winter... I am in and out of the car as quick as I can. Resulting in the interior of our van to be more than unorganized by the end of winter.

I challenge each of you, to tackle one outdoor project this weekend when you are outside enjoying the nice temperatures. It doesn't have to take the whole weekend, but if you set aside a few hours out of your day... you'll have a great kickoff to your spring cleaning!

As always if you ever need help with any of your organizational projects check out our website at http://www.simpleorganizedsanity.com/

Have a blessed day.
